Cheryl Frances-Hoad premiere at Spitalfields
The Schubert Ensemble returns to the Spitalfields Summer Music Festival on Monday June 13th with the world premiere of a new piano quintet by the acclaimed young composer Cheryl Frances-Hoad. Inspired by the poetry of Ted Hughes, The Whole Earth Dances is a single-movement ten-minute work full of beauty and reflection. Sandwiching this new work are two pieces written within a year of each other: Louise Farrenc's dazzling and virtuosic Piano Quintet No.1 (1841) and Schumann's joyful and romantic Piano Quartet (1842), which contains possibly the most gorgeous slow movement in the repertoire.
Tickets (priced only £15) are available from https://www.spitalfieldsmusic.org.uk/events/schubert-ensemble/
