Joe Cutler Premiere at the Cheltenham Festival
The Ensemble's latest commission, a Piano Quartet by
Joe Cutler, will receive its world premiere in a morning concert at the Pittville Pump Room on Tuesday July 6th as part of the Cheltenham Music Festival. Joe has already written a quintet for piano, violin, viola, cello and double bass for the Schubert Ensemble in 2002 and a piano quintet,
Jiggadybox, for the Ensemble's Chamber Music 2000 project. He is currently Head of Composition at the Birmingham Conservatoire, where the Ensemble is enjoying the second year of a three-year Residency.
Also in the programme will be Brahms' Piano Quintet and the Second Piano Quintet by Dohnanyi, the 50th Anniversary of whose death falls this year.
The Ensemble will also be appearing at the Leamington Festival Weekend on April 30th with a programme of early romantic piano quartets by Mendelssohn, Weber and Schumann, and at the Exeter Festival on July 7th.
