New Commissions
The Ensemble's 30th Anniversary in 2013 will be marked with two exciting new commissions. A Piano Quartet by Edward Rushton will have its first performance at Kings Place, London on 9th March and a Piano Trio by Colin Matthews will be premiered at the Cheltenham Festival on July 5th. Both composers have written for the Ensemble before. Colin Matthews was the very first composer commissioned by the Ensemble, back in 1984. Edward Rushton wrote the Ensemble's millenium commission in 2000, which was immediately followed by a second commission later that year. Both commissions already have several subsequent performances in the diary, including six performances of Edward Rushton's piece round Scotland in March, and a performance of Colin Matthews' trio at Wigmore Hall in November.
